Executive Director's Message: Summer 2022

By: CBN

It’s sad to say, but summer is almost over. It’s time to get the kids ready to go back to school, and for some, back to the office on a more frequent basis.

But if there is one thing to look forward to in the fall, it’s the many excellent events that are offered for brownfield professionals across Canada. Being with CBN, the first one that obviously comes to mind is the annual presentation of the Brownie Awards, which will take place in Toronto on November 14th. We are really hoping this year for a true cross-country showcase of the best projects Canada has to offer, so don’t forget to get your nominations in by September 14th.

Depending on where you are in the country, you might also be heading to RemTech in Banff, the Excess Soils Symposium in Toronto, the Green Building Festival or one of the events held by environmental associations in your province or territory. Add to that, all of the excellent webinars being offered, and there is no shortage of industry events to attend.

Speaking of webinars, we’re hosting one of our own on September 27th. This one will focus on the important role brownfields can play in the development of affordable housing options. Details can be found later on in this newsletter.

While we regretfully leave summer behind, we all can look forward to fall and the exciting events where we spend time with friends and colleagues from the Canadian brownfields industry. After the last few years when getting together wasn’t always possible, it really does give us a reason to look forward to the months ahead.

Your fellow brownfielder,

Tammy
