"The Brownfields Industry in Canada: State of the Union" - CBN/Ryerson Research
Speakers: Angus Ross (L and A Concepts), Dr. Chris de Sousa and Reanne Ridsdale (Ryerson University); moderated by Grant Walsom (XCG)
It's been 15 years since the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE) report and its 13 recommendations. In this session, you'll hear about the NRTEE background and CBN's role in moving its recommendations forward from Angus Ross, who chaired the Task Force. Following that will be a presentation from a Ryerson planning studio group on the state of brownfields policy in Canada. Then we'll learn about the CBN/Ryerson survey results, during which you'll discover how the brownfield community views the progress we've made and their views on what remains to be addressed.

Breakout Discussion Groups (including a working break)
This is the working part of the Conference. Participants will go into breakout groups to discuss the survey results and policy report. Each group will have one or more "challenge questions" to answer in light of the research findings, and will be tasked with identifying the next steps in moving Canada's brownfield agenda forward. The breakout groups will be facilitated.

Charting the Future - Plenary Discussion

In this session, the culmination of the day, we will regroup, review and discuss the recommendations of the breakout groups, agree on the priority issues to be addressed to ensure brownfield reuse will be the preferred solution for developers (even more so than now), and define what CBN's role could be in making this happen.
