With a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, Hannah has successfully implemented soil management best practices for managing excess soil and innovative remedial programs, shaping the future of sustainable land use. Hannah is a licensed Professional Geoscientist and a Qualified Person in Ontario.

Samson Walsom, Business Development Coordinator, Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc.
Samson is an alumnus of the University of Waterloo’s Environment and Business program, where he honed his expertise in environmental management and sustainability through co-op placements with XCG Consulting and Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc. Since, joining Milestone, Samson has served as a Project Coordinator, contributing to key initiatives like the Chedoke Creek restoration in Hamilton and environmental remediation in Coral Harbour, Nunavut. In these roles, he was instrumental in achieving critical project objectives through collaboration and strategic planning. Now as a Business Development Coordinator, Samson provides valuable insights to internal and external stakeholders, advancing Milestone’s mission of creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment for all.

Marissa Smirl, Environmental Scientist, WSP
Marissa Smirl (she/her) is an environmental scientist with three years of experience completing Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments, primarily in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. She completed a Bachelor’s of Environmental Science from the University of Manitoba in 2021 and began working with WSP Canada Inc. Marissa executes groundwater, soil and vapour intrusion investigation programs, often for sites impacted with VOCs, and is enjoying finding the balance of site work and project management tasks in her day-to-day.

Adam Yee, Project Coordinator, Nichols Environmental
Adam Yee is a Project Coordinator for Nichols Environmental in Calgary, Alberta which completes environmental site investigation, remediation, and risk management projects for sites across Canada. In his work he oversees the planning and execution of all types of site work including investigation of soil, groundwater, vapour contamination, and conceptual site model development. Adam earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta.

Reanne Risdale, PhD Candidate, Toronto Metropolitan University
Reanne Ridsdale is a PhD Candidate at Toronto Metropolitan University and a current board member at Canadian Brownfields Network and a board member at Sustainable Remediation Forum Canada. Her research focuses on how brownfields can be strategically redeveloped as vehicle for social justice in marginalized communities, specifically Indigenous communities. She often is a sessional instructor at Brandon University, Manitoba.

Melody Vachon-Gregory, Senior Staff Scientist, SiREM
Melody Vachon-Gregory, M.Sc., is a senior staff scientist at SiREM based in Guelph, Ontario. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at the University of Guelph and a Master of Science degree at the University of Waterloo that focused on the microbiology of bentonite clay for use in Canada’s nuclear waste management. Melody has extensive technical experience in molecular genetic testing for soil, sediment and groundwater remediation and site characterization. She uses her expertise to perform molecular testing with a focus on next generation sequencing analysis and data interpretation as well as taken on a lead role in research projects to continue to advance SiREM offerings. Additionally, Melody organizes and hosts SiREM’s webinar series and supports marketing initiatives.
