Jen Angel is a builder of community, momentum and places people love. She is CEO of Evergreen, a national charity that works with public, private and community partners to build better public spaces. For more than 30 years, Evergreen has been bringing people together with nature and each other in the city. Prior to Evergreen, Jen helped create some of Nova Scotia’s most loved places by land and sea, leading the teams at Develop Nova Scotia and Waterfront Development Corporation. There, her teams contributed to economic development, community health and well being, and climate adaptation through better public infrastructure. 

She is currently Chair of the Canadian Infrastructure Council, tasked with delivering Canada’s first National Infrastructure Assessment. She is Placemaking Fellow with the Canadian Urban Institute and has served on a number of community-facing Boards, including Discover Halifax (Chair), United Way Halifax (Director and Chair of the Strategic Fundraising Cabinet), Downtown Halifax Business Commission (Chair), and the National Executive Forum on Public Property.

Her professional portfolio includes real estate, infrastructure and land-based program development and governance, participatory planning and design. She holds an MBA (Marketing), a BA (Philosophy) and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She is an award-winning leader, including Top 50 CEOs and 25 most powerful women in Atlantic Canada by Atlantic Business Magazine, as well as receiving the inaugural Wije’winen Allyship Award from the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre.
